All I want for Christmas is a Cabin!

Wow. We did it. We finally finished the cabin on the Grand Mesa. By "we" I mostly mean Dane because he was the one to design the floorplans and manage the entire construction process. And since he is such a handy guy, he self-performed a good chunk of the work. He was exhausted by the time it was done (and rightly so). Staying our first night there was something we had all been looking forward to for months.

The cherry on top of sleeping there for the first time was that it was two days before Christmas. It felt surreal to finally be here. As looked out the massive windows at the expansive view of the valley below, I had to pinch myself. From the living room window you can see all the way to the Bookcliffs to the north and the entire valley in between.

To our surprise, we woke up to several inches of fresh snow the next day. Just in time to give us a white Christmas! Watching children open presents on Christmas morning is always magical, but this year it was even more so. I think kids could sense it too. We woke up to them whispering from the netting above the living room about this being the "best Christmas ever".
We purchased the land nearly 2 years ago with the dream of having a getaway that wasn't too far away. From our home, it takes less than an hour from door to door. This is ideal for quick weekend getaways or even a mid-week powder day.

We finally have our little slice of paradise. Our little mountain getaway. Bring on the magic and the memory making!
